Your writing and usage data

Drafts are saved in this browser profile. Clearing site data or browser storage policies can remove them. With GitHub sign-in, connected projects can be backed up to your separate private repository when you choose Back up to GitHub. Backups pass through the app server; older GitHub revisions can retain removed text.

GitHub sign-in uses an encrypted, Secure, HttpOnly session cookie for up to eight hours. Signing out clears the session cookie but leaves drafts and remote history.

Optional usage analytics

When configured, WriMo asks before loading Google Analytics. Allowing analytics measures page visits, project and chapter actions, formatting and navigation controls, aggregate writing activity, saves, backup/recovery outcomes and exports. Google also processes technical usage information such as browser/device details and request IP addresses.

Our events exclude manuscript text, titles, headings, repository names, GitHub identities, credentials, keystrokes and raw errors. Page names are fixed labels; query strings and fragments are excluded. There is no session replay, advertising or manuscript-to-AI integration.

Analytics is off until you allow it. You can change your choice through Analytics preferences in the editor. Your choice is stored in this browser for this origin. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable collection. Declining or blocking analytics does not prevent writing, saving or backup. Withdrawing stops future collection; it does not erase usage already received by Google.

Hosting and GitHub process the requests needed to provide the app separately from optional analytics. Keep another copy of important writing during this early preview.
